Ballot Box: A closed box in which voters put their ballot papers in.

Monarchical Regime: A form of government where there is an absolute ruler who has power for life

Authoritarian government: This type of government is non-democratic.

Communist rule: Everybody is counted equal, and the government controls the country

Eastern European transitions: Transitions from communist to free-market societies

Simultaneous political and economic reform: Change politics and economics at the same time

Lacklustre: characterless, no force

NATO expansion: NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) expansion is making NATO larger. Romania was excluded from the first round of NATO.
